Futures Past

April 2024

Charly and the Patient taking a boat to Connect.

Welcome to April.

The sun is slowly beating the rain into submission and one can begin to enjoy the garden again. Walks in the countryside, drinking in the beautiful imagery and enjoying nature.

As you can tell, I am an outdoor person at heart, but also I love sitting at my computer creating and with this I edge ever closer with my feature film project.

Over March I was able to combine the separate elements I wrote about last month, including lip sync and I started to pool together some scenes. Above and below are a couple of screen grabs. The look and feel of this project is really coming together and I have never been more excited.

Travel To The Past

A captivating documentary series that invites viewers to journey through the heart of Sussex’s railway heritage.

Stephen Cranford and Chris Kirk discussing the next scene

Now this truly does combine the future with the past for me.

Tracing the Rails is a new documentary produced by one of my oldest friends. The extremely talented and ever resourceful Chris T Kirk. We go all the way back to 1992 and Chris’s first venture into film making.

Inspired by Tarantino while managing our local Blockbuster video rental store in Worthing, West Sussex, Chris with myself and a band of friends began our Journey.

One of those friends is Stephen Cranford, who’s friendship with Chris goes back even further and they have remained close ever since.

During those thirty years, ‘plus’, our lives have interwoven with Marriages, Children, filming ventures and many other, ‘life’, events.

Stephen and Chris have always had a passion for the past and especially trains and things that were once and now, no longer exist. So this new documentary about old derelict train stations and abandon lines, is such a perfect venture for these guys.

Chris Kirk has extensive experience with spearheading projects of this nature and Stephen Cranford has been a professional presenter for many years. If you tune into BBC Radio Sussex, you will hear Stephen providing the traffic and travel, also, if you are a fan of Alan Carr and enjoy his television show,  Interior Design Masters, you’ll see Stephen as part of Alan’s team.

This project and my two friends is a marriage made in heaven. I have provided a link to their website. (Click on the Tracing the Lines logo above) Please check out this new documentary. I know I will be watching with great interest.

Devious

Episode 5 of Devious (The Doctor Who fan fiction series) is almost complete and will be having a showing at a Doctor Who convention soon. More details to follow.
Our, 30 year in the making, love letter to Doctor Who is nearing completion and we hope that the last episode will coincide with the 25th anniversary of the filming we did with John Pertwee. I'll keep you posted on our progress or click on the image of the Daleks and visit the Devious website. Ashley has kept an extremely comprehensive journal of the whole 30 year plus experience.

Blender

To visit Blender please click on their logo.

Brekel

Brekel have been around for some time. Their products range from free (with limitations), an evaluation version (Full programme for a month) and paid products. Please check it out. I do find this form of motion capture fun and rewarding.

More motion Capture

Not just motion capture, but also retargeting BVH or FBX motion files which have been created via one source and then required to be used in another programme (Of course, this, for me, is Blender). There is also AI capturing with Rokoko. Please check them out.

Be kind Love life Be amazing

Lets all try to be a little nicer, kinder and caring towards others. We do live in a wonderful world. I know there is lots of darkness and hardship all around us, but the more of us who believe, then slowly we will all help in turning the darkness into light. Have a great month everyone.
